Back in Action

Hello there,

I finally got the picture upload to work. So are you ready for some pictures? About time huh?

Aunt Donna, this one is for you! Don't worry we kept a safe distance from this gator ;)

Birding at Freedome Park, my friend Candice took this really neat picture.

Birthday dinner at Cracklin' Jack's! Yum!!!

What can we say? We're basically college kids considering what we get paid. We take advantage of copious amounts of food when given the opportunity.  (see below for details)

Great Blue Heron fishing for food.

This little guy has a story that goes with him. Livvy and I were coming back from releasing a water tutle at the Everglades and we found this guy trying to cross the road. He was right on the yellow line at an intersection crossing. Livvy saw him put one foot and his head out in the oncoming lane and he snapped them back in his shell just as quickly as he extended them. She yelled "STOP THE CAR!!". I pulled over on the shoulder of the opposite side of the road, very carefully she ran over to get him. He rode with us until we found a safe place to put him down on the side he was trying to get to. About 3 miles later Livvy crawled over the guardrail, crossed the stream, and deposited the Florida box turtle in his safe haven. Livvy and I seem to find animals in distress on our days off. Last time we found an anhinga by the zoo with fabric wrapped around his beak. I told her they aren't going to let us have days off if we keep bringing them more injured animals.

All 5 wildlife interns at the Christmas party for work. The one in the middle is gone now and my roommate replaced her.

My Christmas gift to Linda, I painted the plate myself.

This is Nerf, the german shephard greyhound mix, one of the dogs I dogsat for a week.

The 1 1/2 year old Doberman named Royce that I dogsat for a week. She knew how to milk it didn't she?

Royce again front and center, Winnie the Australian shephard on the right, and Nerf on the left. They are all enjoying the treats I gave them, content little kids.

Sigi, Pete, and I. I had lunch with my great aunt and uncle here in Florida.

 The happy couple.

Let's see....Work is still going strong. We slowed down for a few weeks, but it's picking up again. Baby bird season should be starting again in a few weeks which means lots of hungry babies! I get along great with my roommate. She likes some of the same shows, she is easy going, she loves ice cream, and she appreciates sarcasm. I have been running, swimming, and working out. I finally found an intern that plays tennis, the only problem is that we got eaten up by bugs the other night, must remember bug spray! The pictures from the restuarant with all the other interns was from Livvy's birthday. We went to a southern cookin' restuarant where all the sides were family style meaning they bring them out for everyone who ordered entrees. We just kept eating them all and then they would bring out more. I finally got some good sweet tea and fried okra!!!! We plan on going there again verrrrrry soon :) We had a blast! I think the waitress could tell we were enjoying ourselves. Lastly, I had lunch with my great aunt and uncle on my grandma's side today. It was very enjoyable and they invited me to spend a weekend with them out at Bradenton, they play shuffleboard and belong to the Eagles Lodge like me! I have been out bowling again and I actually won this time, honing my skills. My cookbooks have been well used, I got paid today so I will be cooking something good tonight :) I need some beef for crying out loud, I am from Texas!!!

Oh did I mention that my friend Linda from up north is coming to visit me in March! I am excited for the adventures that await us!!!!

One last thing ........Congratulations to my sister Kristina Englebert Hackett on her marriage to Marlon Hackett! I love so very much and am soooooo happy for you. Welcome to the family Marlon! They were wed about a week ago in Virginia.
